Ceramic Beads

Using of ceramic beads is unbelievable wide and we can find a lot of applications of different sizes of ceramic beads. It is good to remember that the ceramic beads are divided not only according size or range of fraction but also according base ceramic material.  Ceramic beads are become standard for production of many types of products. The trend of replacing glass beads by ceramic beads is unstoppable in many applications. Nowadays, all is joined with efficiency, performance and economic benefit.

For all applications you need to calculate not only initial costs of filling for single devices, but also for durability, low wear beads and the quality of final product. It is known that a wear of ceramic beads is lower than of standard glass beads. Another advantage is that ceramic beads are more tough and symmetrical and they have no glass debris, which gets into products and depreciates them.  This effect is happened both in grinding colors and in grinding substances for food and pharmaceutical industries.
Ceramics, we often listen “Give there the ceramic beads” or “Replace the glass beads by ceramic beads” but there is not only one type of ceramic balls. There are also many types of ceramic balls with different way to use it. First we have to mention the ceramic balls in dye industry in the manufacture of paints.  It should be noted that every manufacturer of homogenization mills – Germany Netzsch (MLK, LME, LMZ), Swiss Willy A.Bachofen (Dyno Mill KD, ECM), and another Swiss Hubhler (DCP Superflow, Supertex), Polish Profarb or Czech ProChema construct all the mills so that they can use ceramic balls. It means that the engines are strong enough and material of encasement and grinding blades or discs match the density ceramic balls such as zirconium-oxide ceramic balls, whose density is higher than 6 g/cm3. Therefore, the use of ceramic balls for beads mills means a high load. Beads mills with gradual increase of speed of electric motor for gradually putting in motion of beads, they are already commonplace.
May be you love a good chocolate. In the production of the tastiest chocolates are also used balls – the steel balls, glass and ceramic balls too.  Dispersion of material is made by ceramic balls and it is the way how to get an excellent taste of the finest chocolates.  Not at all technologies can be used ceramic balls and we are often encountered with borosilicate balls in the food industry, which are safe and in some cases it is necessary to use them, although their density 2.23 g/cm3 is low and in comparison with ceramic balls they have less grinding power (kinetic energy). Try to look at the chemical laboratory and the chemical industry in general. You will find beads both glass and ceramic. For example, ceramic balls of aluminum oxide Al2O3 are used in catalysts for petroleum crackin

In some grinding and dispersion equipment cannot be used heaviest ceramic balls, mostly in older equipment, and therefore we offer abead mill wide range of ceramic balls with different properties. For example, the ball from so-called zirconium glass, which we sign as GZ are an excellent transition to higher efficiency of older homogenization technologies. Specific weight of zirconium glass is 3.0 g/cm3 so it can successfully replace standard glass at that increasing the kinetic energy of filling of bead mills too. Another type of ceramic material is balls from zirconium-silicate known in our offer as Z and ZS. Specific weight of material is 3.8 and 4.1 g/cm3. We would like to mention a technology of production of ZS balls. It is a so-called sintering, when the ball is molded in cold and then harden by heating. By these cutting-edge methods of production we are largely stripped of microscopic surface irregularities on the surface of spheres, which can break off and then again get into homogenized product, and in some cases, seriously degrade it. Regarding density, but also prices, we offer the balls signed as ZY, which are manufactured form basic material zirconium oxide with density 6 g/cm3. These ceramic balls can be used for bead mills with the latest date of manufacture or for rebuild and modernized devices with sufficient cooling capacity.

In precision laboratories and factories of the pharmaceutical industry, and not only there, are used ceramic grinding zirconium-oxide balls identified as ZY Premium.

As already has been indicated ZY beads are very powerful and durable, but they also have a one drawback and that is the cost. Therefore, we arrange a service together with producer SiLi for recycling ZY, where you can take back used cartridges to the manufacturer and they sorted into various accurate factions (range of sizes, eg 1.4 to 1.6 mm) and give it back to refuse to the customer.

ceramic balls - zircon-oxid glassYes, the world of grinding ceramic balls is complex and it is necessary exchange advices and experience. Therefore there works the system, when, after consulting with the customer and manufacturer, we suggest the best solution for each of the grinding application. In practice this means in more complicated cases to complete a technical questionnaire and intend together about the various problems of realizing changes or implementation of new technologies and fill current or new bead mills with the most appropriate charge. Technicians of manufacturer of ceramic balls of company Sigmund Lindner GmbH (SiLi), which we represent for the Czech Republic and Slovakia Republic, have a customer database and experience from whole world. We will enjoy sharing these experience with your company and we will suggest the best solution, not only in terms of overall performance, but also economic and for example with regard to organization of work in your company, when we are talking also about how often your bead mill starts.

Feel free to contact us and you will get the best ceramic beads and balls with excellent service, facilities and know-how of world producers.

We offer a full range of ceramic balls. Different types suitable for different applications according to customer requirements differ in chemical composition, the density and size of single fractions. We offer balls of zirconium-oxide, and zirconium-silicate and from zirconium glass.

These balls are used in the most branches of industry.
